It was a fun morning on the ice. This is walleye #1 caught with an LX-7… but it won’t be the last by any means.

These are some pretty low-resolution cell phone pics. I’ll get some good ones tonight along with some video showing this unit in action.

Vertical zoom window. You can position the zoom window on the side of the flasher dial without splitting the flasher in half to create a zoom side and a full water column side.

    James,
How do you feel the 7 will do in the backwaters here… How would you set it up ?

Let’ not forget that I’m green yet with the production units and I’m still getting all the settings dialed in under different scenarios. I will say the 7 performed very well in shallow water. The 7 has ping control which is very advantageous in shallow water as being able to lower the ping rate reduces the amount of reverberation without forcing an angler to reduce sensitivity to compensate. Over a hard bottom, with transducers knocking out several thousands pings a second, being able to reduce that ping speed offered a very interesting method for reducing unwanted returns without sacrificing any quality of the return signal. This new control on the 7 would seem to me to be very interesting to guys that rarely fish deeper than 6′.

Fleet Farm in St. Cloud got theirs in today and I played with it, and it looks very cool.
It would be nicer if they would of added GPS to the package.

I mentioned the exact same thing about the GPS to the person at the booth at the Ice Fishing Show in St. Paul. He said that they have no plans on adding one. Would be a huge plus.

If there is anything that I would say upsets me just a little about the shipping out of these new LX-7s is that the stores have them before the pre-order people. If I had known that I could walk to a store and get it before my ordered unit from last October, I would have gone that route. The pre-order did nothing for me and it sounds like it will still be another week before mine ships. 2 weeks after the walk-ins can get theirs. Bummer all the way around but hey, its’ a new toy and I don’t have any ice to go on anyway.
