Sure wish I had better news… But there is no fishable ice at Gremore, Ambro Slough, in town bridges or Spring Lake..

I’ll keep up making the rounds… hopefully we will have some soon !!!

I kep thinking Green Lake @ Blawkhawk Park will be the 1st place to go. Maybe Bossman can give a shout when it’s safe up there.

I got 2 to 2-1/2″ on pool 5a, and big biting bluegills! Heard reports of guys fishing some of the early locales on pools 8 and 7 as well. These couple cold nights we got coming should set up for a good weekend on the ice!

OUCH!! I seem to recall a very harsh forecast for the upcoming winter. Cold and lots of snow. So far the opposite has been true for much of the midwest. Were sitting pretty good with a nice sheet covering the bays. I decided last night spudding holes is a lot of work. We must have 5 inches in most bays now. The main lake sheeted up and has no snow cover on it. So in theory we’ll continue to creep out by the weekend. Many guys around here think this could be the best start to ice formation in recent years. I know my buddy Mike will be disgusted; It’s not ice fishing for him unless he’s hucking a sled through the slush somewhere.

    Good luck down there guys.

We had ice forming last week here in southcentral WI but last weekends rain killed that. We are having cold weather now and last night many things turned hard on the surface. If the wx holds in the lower 10’s night and 20’s to 30 days we will start to stay hard. We need at least 2 weeks of this wx to get on the ice safely now. This waiting for ice is like waiting for my LX-7.

Green Lake is sheeted but far from fishable. Would need a micrometer to measure actual thickness. DeSoto Bay is wide open. Ronkowski was beginning to sheet up yesterday. Haven’t been over to Lansing area. Haven’t been down to the Chain. Haven’t been down Cold Springs.

DeSoto area did not recieve any measurable snow cover last weekend. 99% rain. That pretty much spelled START OVER for the thin sheet we had going in various locations. Cloud cover the past 3 nights has prevented those over night lows from dipping too far below the threshold. We need 2 to 3 nights of low teen to single digit temps for a good 10 to 12 span with minimal winds. She’ll lock up in a hurry.

I scheduled the 13th off work yesterday. That’s how confident I am there will be something fishable locally by then.

I wish we could get together this weekend. I was on ice last night poking around a little bit. Saturday the area will be good to go. However…I got punched in the gut when I found out I will be traveling this weekend to be a pallbearer for the wifes Aunt. Oh well, might have to take some time away from work next week.

I was on the ice and fishing today. Caught some little ones as I was skeptical about venturing too far out. about 1.5-2″ on Ambro slough. Most spots I checked were a little too sketchy for my liking. Should be good to go in the morning with these temps!

Been good! Just trying to stay out of trouble. First time lurking on the ice fishing forum here figured I’d weigh in. Headed out now to try a few different areas. Gonna make a day of it! Already heard it made about another inch last night!

Was able to cross Ambro Slough, fished Mud and caught a bunch of little ones which was the story for most guys. What do you say we get out fishing tomorrow morning Dave? I need to learn from a pro!

    Pahoo ~

How’s your casting accuracy? Can you hit the tank from the Marcum isle?

We’re right around the 2″ mark up here on 9. I hit three community holes this morning. First two in less than 36″ of water were flops. Third, with 60″ of water was okay. Took all of 15 minutes to score the seasons 1st panfish trifecta this morning but tons of 6 inchers to sort.
