I have been toying with the idea of a Strikemaster Glide-Lite for a couple years now. My buddy got me a gift certificate to Thorne Bros recently, so the time was right to pick one up. I have since modded the out of it and am just about done.
So far the list of equipment/accessories is as follows:
8 PVC rod tubes of various lengths to store the Thorne Bros Customs
Buddy Heater Mount on the Back
Custom auger rack
Mini Ram Ball to mount the cradle and H20 on board.
Lawn Tractor battery and a 12V acc. plug for the H20
Otter Hyfax kit modded to fit.
Soon to be added will be an 18″ strip of LEDs on the back behind the buddy for fishy time. A 9″ strip of LEDs on the interior for compartment lighting. And a UV LED pod for charging glow jigs and plastics. The Vexilar Blue-Box and my camera gear bag fit nicely in the deep compartment. And since I fish outside 99% of the time, it is perfect for me and my style of fishing. Fits in the trunk of my car so I can take it with me to work too. If I want to use the house, this fits perfect in my Fish Trap Scout and also sits nicely in the Guide as well. I made the mount for the heater for those days when I do bring the house. The heater sits on the open side of the tub and this will give it plenty of time to cool down without starting anything on fire on my walk back to shore.
The following photo shows something worth pointing out and explaining. The front auger support is a sleeved PVC pipe connection. The bolt in the bottom of the 1 1/4″ PVC is drilled all the way through and serves as a stop for the 1″ PVC with the “tee”. The upper connection is a threaded rod that I bent to the circumference of the 1 1/4″ PVC and drilled into the top edge of the sled. I wish I could have done this different, but this was the best I could come up with. The bungie has a nice spot to hook to with the threaded rod though, so it may not be all that bad. The tall PVC pipe with the “tee” also slips out easily for storage once I am to the spot and fishing so it doesn’t get in the way.
