Just picked up a Cabela’s Prestige fly reel on Tuesday and going to the Ice Expo Friday. Just looking for the IDO feedback on the right match for the ice rod. I think I have I narrowed down to two. The Thorne Bros Power Noodle or the Quiver Stick in the 32″ models. I have two light walleye rods and one St Croix spring bobber UL. So right now I’m hedging towards the noodle. Point me in the right direction.

My first ice fly reel was the Cabelas Prestige, I paired it up with a 36″ quiverstik and never looked back. For perch, crappies, and sunfish, this is the first rod out of the Otter box.

I like the Quiverstick best. Love the feel of it especially wit a fly reel. I actually like a fluorocarbon line. It’s heavier in water allowing me to really feel my jigs. The super lines tend to absorb water. I am wondering how the Nanofil will perform on the ice. The line really looks different.

I got out on Saturday and I just got to say the Quiverstick is awesome! The fly reel I put on it has a great drag system… It’s just the part about letting go of the reel handle so the drag works that has me on a bit of a learning curve While I was targeting panfish I had four snot rockets hit the ice jigs tethered to the backing with 2# test. Well long story short I’m one for four But what a blast, very happy with the set up. Thanks again for all the input.
