I’m fairly certain I’m going to buy a power noodle rod for myself for X-mas.I plan on putting a fly reel on it. Question is what is the differance between size 2/3 and 4/5? I probally wont fish anything deeper than 20′. Are the bodys the same size but 1 holds more line than the other? I see the line pick up is 1″ smaller on the 2/3. Any input would great. Thanks, Dan

the 2/3 is just its smaller brother, I dont have measurements but the 2/3 is roughly 1/8th to 1/4 inch smaller in diameter than the 4/5. The 4/5 works great on rods 28″+ and 2/3 in rods shorter than 28

Yea not a lot of difference, I’m thinking about the 4/5 just for a little faster line retrevial.

I just purchased the Okuma SLV 23 for my own custom made power noodle rod.

I believe the 23 fits the rod alot better as a combo,I also compared the 2 reels side by side on my rod and considering I will be fishing no greater than the 20′ mark most of the time I went with the 23.

I would go with the 2/3 I have that one. I also have a 4/5 its just a Cabela’s reel but does the job. But I would go with the 2/3 its lighter. Just my 2 cents

I didn’t care for the 4/5 myself. The 2/3 is better suited for ice rod use. If your worried about line retrievel add more backing.

Got two of these last year.Usually fish 15’or less with them.Don’t find retrieve speed a issue compared to advantages. This year I’m going to try removeing a little of the fly line, flattening the spool with some 6 or 8# before adding 2#.Trying to have line down on the spool about 1/8” or so from the edge of the spool.Last year had line go over the edge of the spool a couple times.Don’t need the pool filled like a spinnning reel for casting.

I just spooled up my SLV-23 spooled tonight,I went the suggested P-Line in a 4lb ,I couldnt find any 3lb locally and I went with 6lb Stren Copolymer for backing, fortunately I have a 32,000 yrd spool of it I bought years ago and use it just for backing.

    Bring on the ICE
