Am looking at the new double wide pop up ice shelters. Lots on the market now….Frabill, Shappell, Clam, Eskimo, etc. Anyone have advice to offer on the quality, durability, or overall recommendations?

I have a Frabill trek 2. I have no complants. There is a big diference in price. If you are pulling out on the lake by hand check the weights of the units.

I know this site has advertising with Otter…

    With good reason too !!!
I have owned several different manufactures ice houses… Some have better features then others..

But HANDS DOWN… it you want an ice shelter that flips over… The last ice house you would ever need to own is an Otter…

The tub is roto molded… never a weak corner.. the material is pushed into the corners and not stretched into the corners…

Square tubing with the plastic end connectors makes for easy up and easy down…. and Square Strong tubing means no dinged tubing which causes pinches with trying to set up and tear down..

That’s just the two Main features I feel are the most important to me…

    just my .02

I guess your looking for the base camp style. In my opinion look on craigslist for a suitcase style. I sold my 6×8 clam last year on craigslist for $300 and I believe they are perfect for multiple people. I sold due to I can’t find no one to fish with me and got a Frabill Trekker in case I can ever find someone. ;-) but I think that clam was a great 3 person shelter. Just my $.02.

I know I had a small issue with my Frabill and Frabill Corp has customer service that is second to none. They took care of me and I was more than satisfied.

I have pop up Frabills and a flip style Eskimo. Both have been good units.
