Who are the morons that scheduled this thing AFTER there is already ice on the lakes?

They do it every stinkin’ year.

that way you get the ice fishing bug, and after you spend hundreds of dollars on items there you can go straight to the ice to use it instead of waiting.

Yeah, but I don’t want to waste a perfectly good day of fishing to go shopping.

At least the muskie expo is a month before the season so you can get all riled up before you can hit the water. Yeah, it drives the wife crazy but who cares. A month worth of bouncing around and incoherent fishing babble just makes her that much happier to get out of the house and stop bugging her when the season opens. Can you say “free pass”

Just like a little kid, the anticipation of Christmas morning is almost as fun as the day itself.

It looks like you have a BIG decision on your hands… Miss a day of ice fishing or skip the ice show. I sure hope it works out for you which ever decision you make

So when is the show? Seems to me in years past its a mix before first ice or afterwards. Isn’t it next week sometime?

Skip the show. Take the money you would spend on a ticket to get in and go to Thorne Bros and get what you need. The ticket money would probably be the difference you might save by going to the show and this way you get to go fishing

As a muskie fisherman, I like the fact that I don’t have to sacrifice a day on the water to go to the show. Here is how I game plan the ice show.

Arrive at the show on Saturday at 10am. Look around, have some adult beverages and leave around 1:00. Go to Alary’s for pizza and a beverage. Watch the staff there for about an hour. I arrive home about 2:30 and then hit the ice.

One year the plan did not work out because we had too much fun at Alary’s.

We are hitting the show Friday morning and then heading up to Mille Lacs to fish the big lake or a smaller lake nearby. Sounds like a pretty good day to me.

Way to spoil the fun. You could have had a good time driving by the Xcel center and laughing at them.

what a bunch of clowns don’t you all know there’s ice right next door? So get to the show early, buy your shack and your new super auger, go right next door and make yourself comfortable, there problem solved, thank me later.
