Many “Iceheads” like myself will be looking to drop the puck on the new Marcum LX-7 this season. Still anglers should not overlook the VX1 Pro in the Marcum line. This unit at has unequalled value at this price point. Sometimes guys like myself may be guilty of a common mistaken identity thinking “Entry Level”. Truth be told when reviewing the product specs you will clearly see from top to bottom the VX1 is FAR from entry level when looking at comparable units in the marketplace. The Marcum VX1 actually rivals many popular Mid to upper level units currently being sold at far higher price points.

I’ve used the VX1 Pro with customers for a couple years now. This unit has been bulletproof and frankly I seem to always really give my equipment a test!! It is very simple to use, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Beyond that…the price if darn attractive leaving cash for that new rod and reel as well.

Here’s a list of what $299.00 can bring you this season!!

    VX-1P Flasher System:

    • “New” Red Padded Soft Pack included

    • “New” 12-volt 7-amp Rechargeable Battery

    • “New” 3-Stage Auto Battery Charger included

    • 20-degree transducer with 8-foot cable

    • 1,000-watts of power

    • Bottom Lock Zoom

    • 6 levels of Interference Rejection

    • Two year warranty

    • Most feature- and value-rich ice sonar system available

    • Made in the USA

    • Price – $299.99

SO though the buzz may surround the introduction of Marcum’s LX7…..there is little doubt in my mind the VX1 will continue to be the everyday bargain in the flasher industry hitting the ice with many anglers again this season.

You got it Chris! I have had the VX1’s out on many of my near shore fishing missions around the bay here they are tuff units that have with stood a pounding that most of my gear gets from all of my trips. I have been happy with the units and there performance.

Right on Jon. Units being sold to guys that cover lots of ice with snowmobiles tend to experience a bit tougher life. “Guide Tested” comes to mind back when companies coined this phrase to tell anglers their gear has been utilized in multiple applications…….HARD!! Beyond being both a tough and reliable unit; I really want to stress how easy these flashers are to operate. Sometimes while guiding it becomes impossible to drill holes, move shacks and hold hands at the same time. If one thing is left out on a trip it most always will be hand holding. The VX1 allows anglers to quickly grasp the critical features of Ice Sonar; Where am I? and Where are the FISH!! The Zoom Feature is frankly a heck of a benefit in the flasher industry, and I believe anglers of all levels truly appreciate. Yes…at a mere $299.00 you get to zoom it in with the Marcum VX1P. Featuring 1000 watts of power translates into a mere 2 inch target seperation. Your Target seperation is where you can fine tune your presentation by bringing clarity to the where your presentations is compared to your target species.

Many of us are also open water anglers, and for years it has been generally accepted knowledge that sonar on our big walleye boats most always is priced according to power delivered. Take a look at your local retailer and you’ll see them lined up high to low right down aisle in general. Marcum Technology truly has “Bucked”…..(Sorry still in Deer Hunting Mode ) the trend here. Originally I brought these units into our guide service with the “No Man Left Behind” theory. This day and age requires anyone looking to excel at our sport, and have more fun by catching MUCH MORE fish needs sonar. Like many other guys I started with a unit for myself. Then quickly realized my wife will not fish with me unless she also has Ice Sonar. Who can blame her really. Kids, friends and yes our wives that truly want to enjoy ice fishing and currently don’t own Ice Sonar would be well served testing out Marcum’s VX1 Pro. Guys like myself have also been known to drop the puck on the VX1 watching my deadstick. You’d be shocked at how many more fish you catch on even a “Deadstick” when you know when fish are present and where you are in relation to that big guy.

Sure we all like discounts, but at $299.00 this unit IS the competition for comparable benefits delivered in Ice Sonar today. Marcum set the bar high in benefits and set the bar low in the pricing department.

Again I highly encourage you further research this on your own. Better yet drop the puck on it!! I believe you’ll come to many of the same conclusions in which I have.

Then it would become a steal

Like mentioned above, and you said it yourself, $299 is a good deal.

If it is the rebate that you are looking for, just for a little more ching (counting the rebate) maybe the LX-3 is more for you

I know Chris has put the VX1 Pro through the paces and it holds up

Great Call Brett!! Marcum has one heck of a line up for guys seeking Ice Sonar!! Slight steps up in pricing with rebates bring guys into the popular LX-3 and LX-5. Pick your Poison and catch more fish this season!!

Hey Brett…….What unit do you most rely upon down there for those pannies??

The LX-3 and LX-5 are more popular on Pool 8. I do know 2 guys running the VX1 Pros and they are very happy with the performance. I believe it is an under utilized sonar unit that outshines anything in it’s league, you couold say for that price it is in a league of it’s own!

MarCum has put together a great line up of flashers covering the needs from the fundamental fisherman all the way to airheads, as myself, thinking outside of the box always wanting more

What’s the matter, don’t you have anything going on today Chris

My neck is starting to swell just thinking of red marks on the screen

    Come on ice

I’m just waiting for the next batch of ice cubes to lock up in our freezer before I dump them in Tilson Bay.

As anxious as we all become every season John; History shows we’ll be on SAFE ice within a mere days of past years.
