Ice thickness needed?

    First time Ice castle owner.

I just purchased my first ice castle today and realized I have no idea what the ice thickness is needed. It’s a 8×22 foot renegade ice castle/rv hybrid. Weighs about roughly 6-7000 pounds and is a dual axle frame. Pulling it with a 1/2 ton ram 1500. The lakes near me have around 16 inches of clear ice with maybe an inch or two of snow on it. I’d love to hear some opinions

I had a 1 ton diesel with a 20 foot wheelhouse. I went out on 16 inches but felt way more comfortable on more. I saw guys out with similar outfits on less but not me.

Nobody is gonna say what safe ice is. But if you have a solid 16 inches EVERYWHERE then you should be good. waytogo

I had a 1 ton on the ice last week at 16 inches. Just unsure how much of a difference having the Castle on the back will be?
