Ice rods lanyards

    What are the little lanyards that come with new ice fishing rods used for?

    To display the rod on hooks in the store. I am not sure what else they would be used for.

    It’s been a while since I actually look at them in the store. If I recall and if they’re actually on the rod tip guide, then I reckon it would allow one to pull on that little lanyard rather than just grabbing the rod tip to just flex check.
