Looking for recommendation on a decent ice rod. Mainly I fish in an Ice House or two man portable for walleyes on Red or Mille lac. Not so much a hole hopper, I do have a two person portable. Not much of a panfish guy. Also tips on line would be helpful, type, pound test?

I love my precision power rod, tuned up custom. I use 6lb berkley vanish. I’ve had the best luck with that.

Really liked a cheapo HT rod last year, so much when I got a few custom rods I looked for the exact same action as that one, believe it was a ML.

Still a newbie on ice, but just don’t see all that much difference in expensive rods. Love my meatstick for pannies. Plus the reels break down super easy for storage. If i look for new combos I’ll be checking those out.

4# invisiline flouro has been awesome this year.

What are you going to spend? I would say you can get a decent rod for 30 bucks but the tuned up customs and thorne bros rods are about as good as they get but they are more like 100 bucks. If the price doesnt matter get a tucr precision. If you want to save some money the jason mitchell clam rods are fairly sensitive with a good action. St croix avid ice is a little more money but I think it is more sensistive. I would say dont go heavier than medium power for the rod. I like medium light for eyes. I run 8 lb suffix ice magic in green to a 4 lb flouro leader for line.

I like the Jason Mitchell Meatstick as a decent rod/reel set up without breaking the bank. The heavier weight just feels good in my hands. I believe its about $59 at Thorne Brothers.
