Looking at getting new ice rod bag. Really like the Striker Ice Transporter. Wondering who uses this bag and if you like it. Plus any other brands to look into. Thanks!

I’ve been very pleased with my Striker Ice Transporter. It has lots of storage space and comfortably holds 5 rod and reel combos. In reality, though, I can fit at least 15-20 more rods (most of which are 20″ tightlining rods and some palm rods) in the top compartment. There were many days last winter where I used the backstraps on the Transporter to carry all my gear as a backpack when taking the minimalist approach in fishing area lakes. Lastly, two big criteria for me when looking for a rod case was that it was durable and snag-resistant. I felt like the Striker Ice Transporter passed the test in these two areas last winter.

I have the Jr’s tackle rod case and love it! However they don’t make them anymore. The one that comes close to it is the cabelas deluxe it would be the 8 rod one. I liked it because the interior doesn’t get hooks into it and it can hold a lot of gear.

After years of having different bags before getting a hard case, my advice would be to skip the bag and go right to the hard case. You won’t be sorry.

The Otter rod case is really tough to beat.

I love my Striker Ice Transporter Bag. I have a hard rod case as well, use them both. The hard rod case doesn’t go with on every trip, the Striker Ice Bag does.

The hard cases are great for storing 10 or more rods, but the trade off is they are a bit bulk and heavy. So, when I’m packing light or going into backwater lakes, I leave it at home and put the 4 or 5 rods I know I’ll use in the Transporter, throw it on my back like a backpack, and off I go.

So, both are great, I use the Transporter Bag more and would highly recommend. Hope this helps!
