    Glen,
I just texted a local buddy up in Outing asking if they are walking on Lawrence, and he said it hasn’t been cold enough. However, last weekend a couple locals said the smaller lakes/ponds holding slabs had 4″ and fishing was good.

I’ve been a little busy trying to land a new job , but have seen people out on a very small lake between Grand Rapids and coleraine. Going to check a few other spots today .

Looks to be some fishing going on in the area. This is a local first ice spot that kicks out some nice crappie.

i was up over new years one lake i was on had 14 inches of ice, BUT alot of slush pockets. the other lake and its known to not make ice as fast i’d say had 9, maybe 10 inches at most. that lake when you drilled the hole had water come up on the ice, not bad but…….

where was 6 1/2 inches of snow consistently where i measured it.

I found the same on the three lakes I fished last week. Lots of slush pockets. None are very big yet but could be a big problem soon if we get more snow or don’t get a bunch of cold weather.

headed up saturday morning. any info on how the lakes are???? i am not interested in hot spots or any particular lakes, just any slush of snow amounts on smaller less busy lakes.

i know this cold snap should help with slush…….i’d really like to drive out and not haul a wheeler of sled>>>>>>

smaller lakes are iced over and larger ones are rimmed … glare ice. Most reports are of folks ice skating at this point.

waytogo thanks. Seen a guy walking out on the ice on the Williams narrows cam this morning. And heard there was 3 inches on little Winnie in about 10 ft of water.
