We are still allowing truck traffic to enter the lake through Trappers Landing Lodge. We will be closing the access tomorrow to truck traffic and it will be ATV or Foot travel only from there on out. Please be careful as the cracks are starting to open and get a little wider.
The perch bite is picking up in the bays. Miller bay right next to the resort is kicking out fish in 6-8 feet of water using minnows and jigging spoons. Other spots on the lake such as Pine Point, Agency Bay, Boy Bay and Sand Point are also kicking out good numbers of fish using Minnows as well. You have to do some sorting right now and be prepared for some pike action. The perch were biting this morning, and slowed down by mid afternoon. It should continue to get better throughout the week.
For people chasing tullibee the bight is on right now, we have had about 200 vehicles through the access this morning chasing some of the angry white fish out there. Silver spoons with a 6-8″ dropper and waxie are producing the most fish, the best spot for finding some tullibee is the hole in between Diamond Point and Huddle’s Reef.
Please use caution around the cracks and please call before you head out so that we can tell you where the cracks are. Hope to see everyone on the ice, and good luck out there. I know I will be chasing perch all weekend.
