    Hey guys,
Just wondering what you all would recommend for a budget reel for ice fishing on superior. I have a sahara on my one lake trout setup but want something else that has a good drag and around 3000 size. Thanks!

For that price point I would look at the Daiwa Fuego LT. If magseal is not your thing then go a step down with the Daiwa Legalis LT.

Also would vote for the Diawa’s. I have one of the Okuma Ceymers and really like it too.

A Ceymar 20 or 30 should work just fine.

Just tested the Legalis 2500 over the weekend and think it would be an excellent Laker reel.

I listened to quite a few on this site over the past winter season.

    Okuma Ceymer

Shimanos I purchased this winter worked fine too. Those were under $30 each.

I replaced the felt with carbon fiber drag washers.

One of the custom rod builders sell the Ceymer already converted for winter (carbon fiber washer and cold temp lube).

I think the biggest thing is to have the drag washers upgraded.

I personally use an older Stradic for ice fishing for lakers. It is already broken in and the last time I cleaned it I swapped all the grease for low temp grease.

Diawa Fuego would be my number 1 recommendation for this for a new reel. They hold up really well in cold.
