Saw a few of the metro lakes were completely opened yesterday – still saw some ice on the river. What’s going on elsewhere?

There are still people fishing around Alexandria. I plan to check the ice tonight but before the rain we had 20″. After the rain the ice is finally getting darker so it should go fast now.

Is walleye season still open in Wisconsin? I always thought inland waters closed like Minnesota?

Lakes are closed, but some rivers stay open year around for some gamefish, walleye and northern, muskie is closed. You have to look in the regulation book to know where to fish. Not a lot of people know this, I usually have the area I fish to myself, most guys are in boats now, fishing below the dams for walleyes.

Still ice fishing(panfish only) here in Rhinelander, but the temps and incoming rain are going to shorten the season. I drilled holes yesterday, but am losing interest so started getting the boat put to right today.

Detroit Lakes area is done for. Few lakes you might be able to get on but the rain sealed the season for me. Time to get the boat ready!
