I’m guessing the ice will be off the pond on the 11th of May, just in time for Opener. But it wouldn’t surprise me at all if locations are limited due to the main lake being iced up.
What is your guess for the official ice out this year?

It’ll be close and if my plans were to fish there on opener, I would have a plan “B”.

Plan B = Beaver Dam tip ups??

Sweet. 2 lines in Minnesota for the opener!
I was on Mille Lacs yesterday. No pull back from the edges and no slush along the East edge of the lake.
With the latest ice out in 2013 and in looking at the monthly averages for this year to be a little above 2013, my guess is May 11, also my birth day.
This is the view a moment ago. With the snow cover, I think it will take a long time to melt. My guess is 5/10.
It is going to get pretty warm next week and that could change a lot. But I fear getting the dock and boat lift in prior to the opener is very much in doubt for me this year.
Shoreline on the west side is starting to get soft today and even pulled out a couple feet in spots.
YeAh I would say with this crazy warm weather that it will go out earlier than my initial pick.
Get some wind when there is room for the ice to move and things can get interesting on many sides of the lake.
I say 4/28 is official ice out. Starting to see the sand on the north end… I drove it twice a day and she is getting soft on the edges.
Pulled over & snapped a picture last night on the drive home… this is at the Hogs Back where the creek runs in…
I think my original prediction is off, at least 4 days. The cold air really slowed down the melting… now I am thinking more like May 4th.
Drove along the south shore and up the east side today. Cove bay was about half open. Wahkon and Isle were mostly iced, but still some large areas of open water.
Most of the east side was still white ice. But up in Malmo there was some open water. I’d say 75-150 yards depending where you look. The pic is looking out from Malmo.
