How much ice do you guys think will melt tonight? I live in southeastern minnesota and planned on heading out tommorow. We had 7 inches of ice but with the overnight low at 45 has me kind of worried about the ice

Was out this afternoon. Make sure you have some type of ice creepers for your feet. As much as 2″ of standing water on the ice in places. Interesting drilling holes without them as it is SLICK!

HA! You made me remember a time on ice like this trying to drill holes with a hand auger and no creepers! Took forever to drill a hole, with me spinning the auger one way and spinning myself around in circles. Fun times!

Ice is thick here, measured 10″ on Saturday. Sloppy and wet, but her in NE WI we dive below freezing again tomorrow. Best part, NO snow on the ice now so travel and ice-making will be premium. (That’s good for a foot bound traveler like me) -)

No snow on ice will be awesome for travel. Especially later when driveable. But still bums me out big time waiting for snow to sled on.

I was on the horseshoe chain this weekend.
Saturday 11pm i set up my clam bigfoot, my cot; went to sleep with the sunflower on, and got up at 9am. I tore down my hub house and noticed that there was a 2″ platform of ice left from my insulated house. The lake lost 2″ of ice overnight, everywhere except where my hub was.
So there was ice lost for sure.
