Pretty sure the screen is heated on them.

My Helix did great in -18. Cold did not impact it at all. Now if you think you can fish with a flasher/sonar in -25 for more than a few seconds more power to you.

I say out and tested holes and had to break ice immediately upon dropping the ducer.

I have used my helix in -35 with no problems. The cold will drain your battery quicker that’s all

Pretty sure you’ll be in a shelter when it’s that cold or you’ll be breaking ice in ur hole every minute. I love my helix and it works great next to other units

    Hi,
I just ordered the same Helix because my boat dealer in Wisconsin uses it as well for ice fishing. In colder temps he said I shouldn’t have any issues. Probably keep it out of the wind. One of the big benefits why I got it is because I will mount it on my boat in the summer marking fish, cribs, weeds, etc then use that when I go ice fishing. As in previous threads use the Xi 9 1521 ducer.
    Good Luck and Have fun.

I have my helix 5 G2 out in -5 or so and zero issues. any colder than that i’m in my shack with the heater. Had this unit out maybe 10 times now and i just love it.

I have read that with the gen 2 chirp technology Humminbird has addressed the interference issues when used in close proximity to other sonars such as a Vexilar or Marcum. Have you had much experience when fishing close to others using a Vexilar or Marcum?? If so any interference issues for you or the guys using the Vex and Marcum?

    Thank you

I have fished mine in close proximity to marcum units, vex units and other humminbird mechanical units. In all cases the interference we experienced were all easily taken care of by using our own IR and didn’t have do do any coordinated effort. One instance i was fishing quite deep for me (30′) with a lx5 about 15 feet away and a Ice 45 another 15 feet away, with my cone at 21 deg i was not able to completely clear my screen, i would have an occasional blip of interference come through but easily fishable with it, although once i changed to 15 deg angle i was able to 100% clear it.

I have used my helix 7 all winter and had any issues in below zero temps, I did upgrade to a better battery

I have used my helix 7 G2 next to both in a flip over. We both had to switch to different ir frequency and they both worked fine
