Ice Helix 5 battery life

I put 6 hours on my new unit. I mapped 2 holes to start my 2nd outing with it and it shut off until I charged it again. Good thing I grabbed the Ice 35 just in case. It was in night mode to save some battery. I have an Amped 15 ah battery in it. Their site says I should get around 26 hours use per charge. Fishing in a warm hub. Friends with Helixes haven’t had any issues. Any ideas? I’ve basically turned off the gps until I map a spot again.

I run mine off a vexilar lithium, not sure if it’s 7.5 or 9 ah.I run it 12-14 hrs and it still shows 50-60%.

Sounds like a possible faulty battery.

Mine shows 100% all the time. I have it set to the proper battery as well. I thought it will always say 100 until it’s almost out with LiFePO4 batteries?

Disconnect the Helix from the battery when not using it. I think there is a small power draw even if you turn the Helix 5 off with the power button. I’ve noticed this with my Helix 5 as well

I double checked my ice helix 7 and I’m using a cheap 12ah lithium iron phosphate battery and I can get a full day (10+ hours) if I turn down the backlight. The 5 with a 15ah should go 2 days. If it’s a new unit I’d bring it back.

I’m in contact with Amped and Humminbird hasn’t responded yet. Amped wants me to check that the charger is operating at 14.6v. I’ll pick up a volt meter Monday. It’s set for the 12v LiFe Po battery.

Humminbird tells me there’s a shuttle of switch on the shuttle too. Not that I’ve ever seen. Maybe on the 7 and or 9. Like RM said. If I disconnect the battery it will prevent accidentally turning it on.

There is a switch just inside the rear cover above the battery. If the switch is left on and battery connected, it will discharge over a period of days. I took your original comment as you took it out fully charged and it only lasted 6 hours. If that’s not the case and you charged it, then let it sit for a number of days before using, the disconnect switch is likely your issue.

Man my 7 will last days and days with a 16amp and at 8 brightness. It seams like a bad battery.

No switch on this unit. Other than on the front there is only the little slot for micro sd card. After fishing Friday I had 13.3 volts on my status screen. Now it shows 0 volts. I guess I have to disconnect the battery every time. I never had to do that with my Ice 35.

I am curious what you have going on RB.I don’t use mine all the time just when i need the map so it sits between uses and never an issue.

I hold the button until it turns off. It’s off when I close up the shuttle bag. I lost 13.3 volts since Friday night. Battery was connected.
