Lake Sakakewea and Leech Lake for sure.

Possible trips include Ft. Peck, Devils, LoW, and random smaller lakes around Leech.

    What’s the draw to Sakakawea?

Putting my wheel house out of Morts on URL and leave it there for the season. I’m retired so I’ll go up for 3 or 4 days during the week and then stay away on weekends when the lake gets invaded like it’s D Day. I’ll take my side by side out on the ice with the portable and do some hole hopping if fishing in the house is slow. I’ll do that until there is too much snow for the side by side.

Then I’ll go on some of the local lakes around the Duluth area. Bought a summer place on the White Face reservoir this year so I might do some ice fishing there as well. And we just recently booked a Sno Bear trip on Devils Lake out of Haybale Heights. This will be my fifth trip to Devils Lake and have always used Perch Patrol guide service using portables. Always wanted to do the Sno Bear so decided to go with that this year. Doing that trip early Jan. than after that it’s back to Red Lake and other local lakes.

I’m not a big fan of LOTW. Fishing at night there is non existent for the most part. We catch fish on rattle reels all night long at Red. I know a couple of guys who don’t even own a jigging rod. They have houses on Red and fish rattle reels day and night and do pretty darn good.

Great walleye fishing (at times). Also, very good pike fishing, some really big ones too.

Hmmm big pike could be fun. But what’s your idea of big?
