First year ice fishing, I’ve tried only small lakes so far with no luck at all, if you guys don’t mind, share some spots? Or we can buddy up. Located in Saint paul. My goal this winter season is to catch a giant walleye at least or any big fish. Lol

That’s everybody’s goal. Easier said than done.

People aren’t just going to tell you a spot, especially on the internet where anybody can read it. Post around enough, and you can start to gather some information that you can use to help you out. Types of structure to look for, etc.

My advice for a big walleye through the ice in the metro area is to fish the last hour of sunlight into the first hour of darkness. Have some different structure near you. Study some lake maps. Lake Minnetonka is an outstanding fishery in the metro area, but it can be intimidating. Pick a bay, and treat that bay like an individual lake, essentially treating Minnetonka like 20 small lakes rather than 1 large lake.

Since this is your first year ice fishing, I would say go after some crappie. They are fun to catch and you will get many more. At the same time you might also catch a pike.
As far as the spot, you would have better luck getting people to share naked pictures of their wife with you.

Best bet if you are looking for where to go is hit up a local bait shop ask them what they’ve been hearing they’ll probably be able to give you plenty of spots to go.

How close to st. paul are you looking to fish? what species?

Located between saint paul and maplewood border. Panfish, and walleyes are what I’m planning to go after.

Use the DNR lakefinder tool. Look at the surveys which tell you what’s in the lake. Then watch every season of IDO on YouTube and take notes!
