What type of skis are best for making a smithy sled? DH or CC skis.
    Thanks in advance.

You can get creative with the smitty shed. Down here in Illinois we can get ice but, not enough snow. I have put wheels on my sled that I can put on or remove them. Very handy if you are going to build one. Good luck!!!!

Just head to the local goodwill and grab what ever they have. I picked a set of skis for $20. As far as cc or dh. DH will be more forgiving when making the sled, cc in theory would perform better though because less friction and would cut through the snow better. I’ll never leave home without my smitty.

Downhill skis and the longer the better as long as it will fit in the box of your pickup or whatever.I also use it for a windbreak on windy days standing it vertical when running and gunning and sitting on a pail using it for a backrest, works slick.Fish safe

Time to hit Menards for their hard plastic cheap kids snowboards. They are quite tough and appear to be made out of the same stuff as snowmobile hyfax.

Water skis are great if you break through the ice and have a boat conveniently handy to tow you around the lake. Lol. But I bet they would work with a good coat of wax.
