I believe all lines labeled “ice” are simply smaller spools to increase profit. Suffix 832 may be the exception, I think they use a slightly different formula for the ICE brand braid??..

The line you choose will depend on the fishing you do, I would not suggest braid unless you fish in an ice house or 33F+ weather a lot as the braid typically carries more water and will freeze up a lot more than flouro.

I asked that question couple years ago and was told P-Line and have used that with no regrets. That’s what I would recommend.

I like P-line Flouroclear or FlouroIce. Both are great copolymer lines. In fact I use it for most all my panfish rigs in soft water too. I spool up my daughter’s spincasters with it. And I think it runs a close second to Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultrasoft for shakeyheads and dropshotting bass. I’ve caught some big Walters and bass on 6lb. For pannies through the ice I use 3lb and it holds up well to the incidental big bass we catch.

Agreed from above on the braid outside in freezing temps..

I have been using the Suffix Ice Magic for a few years now and weather I am pan fishing the backwaters of the Mississippi River or Walleyes up on the NW Angle of LOTW.. It has not failed me !!

I’ve been using a hybrid of different braids since Cajun was sold out. I really like the 832, and the power pro slick of all that I have tried so far.

Though for ice fishing (and all year long as far as that goes) has been spraying my lines with Reel Magic. Its not the perfect fix-all, but I have noticed a significant extended life in all my braids with it.
