Any information regarding open amateur ice fishing leagues? Looking for something that is relatively serious, honest, and has a pay in/out. From multi species, to panfish or walleye only. Be nice to have a reason to get out every Saturday or Sunday and meet people and network. Any info or links would be appreciated.

Ice fishing league

It wouldn’t be a league but I’m kicking around the idea of setting up an IDO GTG (get together) on Mille Lacs this winter with some type of competition and a chance to put a face to some of the online names… Is that something you’d be interested in?
September 25, 2014 at 9:48 am #1457951Sounds good… I’ll start making plans and expect to see a post with details show up in the Mille Lacs Forum and Ice Fishing forum sometime around November.
The tentative plan will be to wait until we can get out to the flats with full size vehicles and do a little ice trolling. I’ll see about getting it lined up with Red Door or another resort to reserve some sleeper shacks for anyone who wants to make a weekend of it.

However, similar to Brad question posting in search of a league, I am looking for a weekend to fly back to MN for a bit of a more competitive time. Not that winnings everything… but there is just something about getting out there and testing your skills against other fantastic anglers.
Does anyone know of any open metro-ish leagues or tournaments this upcoming season that you would recommend?

I’m in. It was a good time last yr with QB in South Dakota, looking forward to doing it again.
September 25, 2014 at 5:59 pm #1458133Will that’s a great idea. Someone like myself would definitely make a weekend out of it. I know others who would say the same. Maybe next year you could consider making it a once a month get together, mix in a little cash and competition and you’ve got a ido fishing league!

You’ll learn more fishing one event than you will fishing all season. If you need info on anything let me know. 95% of us tournament are an open book and willing to help out anyone looking to compete.

NAIFC is a great league with some really nice people that fish it. I fished in it a few years ago and had a blast. All you need is a partner, $$$, and time.
