On our way back from s.dakota pheasant hunting we noticed this ice shelter just outside Brookings. Not sure the ice thickness but it sure has been cold the last few days in s.dakota.

Another thing to be careful with out there is the section/gravel roads blown over with snow. Eastern S. Dakota from Huron to Brookings now has about 7″ to 8″ of snow on the ground. Add 30+ mph winds and the smaller roads can become impassable pretty quickly. We know, because we spent an hour shoveling out our SUV that got stuck while pheasant hunting. This was before the recent snowfall too.
