I’m curious if anyone has any advice as far as tipping guiding services. I’m considering hiring a guide for a day trip and wondering what the standard of practice is.

    Thanks

My tip would depend on the service.

I fished in SC with a guide. When calling around to find a guy who fit my schedule I asked this question. The other guy said 10% is usual and more for a great trip. I would try asking guides in the area you want to fish.

Always done about 10% for a decent day out. If the guide is good, personable, helps you fish the style you want tip them 15-20%.

The tip isn’t dependent on how many fish you catch…rather how enjoyable the trip was.
