A group of us recently made it up to Flag Island Resort for 3 days of multispecies ice fishing on Lake of the Woods. The accommodations and folks who worked at the Resort were top notch! Bending over backwards to put you on fish and make your trip one to remember.

The Fishing – Day 1 it was decided to stay, somewhat, close to the Resort in the MN side of LOTW to target Walleye, Sauger and Perch due to 24+ hours of snow. We got into pretty good numbers of fish and some quality fished showed up as well! Below is a video of that action from Day 1.

Never stayed there in the winter, but their operation in the summer is top notch, can’t imagine it’s any different when the thermometer drops. Great people, awesome food and good accommodations.

Super nice folks. I went to nursing school with their daughter Breanna. I heard about this place for years. I need to make it up there!

Small world! We were able to get to know Breanna a little bit during our stay. Such a nice family!

This was my first time up there but now I’m itching to get back during the open water season! The food really surprised me, everything we tried the 4 nights we were up there was good. There was so many ingredients and items made in house. Not always the case at Fishing Resorts.

They used to make prime rib once per stay (they still may?) and I’m not sure if it was because I hungrier than Paul Bunyan, or if it was actually as good as I thought…but it was the best prime rib I’ve ever had.

Interesting Bass Thumb I had their daughter shadow me during some of her clinicals.. Did you guys go to Saint Cloud Tech? She was very nice and we chatted about the Resort and she was moving back home

Oooh that does sound good! Chuck was bummed that he wasn’t able to smoke his ribs that week due to all the snow and cold temps. Sounds like he makes them usually once a week and people come from all around to buy them that day.

Yes. For the LPN and ADN degrees, after that she headed up north. Do you work at SCH?
