What are people’s favorite ice fishing boots when fishing outside and moving around?

Baffin. Mine are an older model but they are by far the best I’ve ever owned. Had em for about 10 years now and I’m an outside hole hopper. Not even looking for new ones anytime soon.

Make your next a pair of Baffins.

I can’t comment on a current particular model but I’d recommend the coldest weather pac boot with laces and leather. My wife has a pair of Impacts and they make it really difficult to pull her bibs over. They are very warm though.

With a good wool sock, they are perfect. He did say for moving around… I own a pair of Mickey Mouse boots too, they are good for sitting in the cold too. Baffin’s look like Canada’s version of LaCrosse’… whistling (I have had my Ice Kings for more than 15 years)

cabelas has some good deals going right now. I’m thinking about grabbing a pair of their predator pac boots. Also, baffin impact are on sale for 150 from 200. I wish I could get baffins but I’ve heard you need a size up and biggest they make is 13 so that won’t work for me.

I will be following this thread closely as everytime I go to buy new boots, I am overwhelmed by all of the choices and leave the store going back to my old Sorels from the 90s. lol.

I have Baffin Impacts…Big,yes but warm as heck and light…that was a big selling point for me,lighter than most.
I used to have some Mickey boots, very warm, but at 53ozs apiece they were just too much…

I get cold feet, my socks get damp quickly. I have been wearing the same Cabela’s Predators with the removable liners for 5 years, averaging 50 trips per Winter. They have made ice fishing a pleasure for me. I use poly pro liner socks under Smart Wool regular socks. I use a PEET boot drier to dry the liners every night. I bought a spare pair of liners but have not worn out the first pair yet.
One trip I forgot the liners for the Predators, rather than not fish I clumped around in them without the liners and my feet were still okay.
My shoe size is 11, I ended buying size 13 Predators after trying them on at the store. Too big to drive in, a little tricky to shift ATV with, but worth it.

I’ve had a pair of Cabelas Predator Extreme pac boots for about 10 years now, on my second liner and they’re still going strong. I believe some of the IDO staff had some bad experiences with them a few years ago but these are the boots for me and will buy another pair when I need replacements. Good luck with what you decide.

You nailed it. Sorels and LaCrosse are the standard by which all compare.
They have always worked for me and always will. I have been comfortable with that fact for years and dont waste time trying re-invent the wheel.

Yep, I’ve had Ice Kings for about 18-20 years. My wife bought them for me as a christmas gift.

I need to look into new liners as the heals are wearing thin.

I use muck field blazers boots. My feet rarely get cold, but if they did I’d buy the artic pros.

I don’t wonder if they are talking about the Alpha Ice Kings. That’s what I wear, they are 800g. It looks as though Lacrosse no longer makes the alphas though.

I used to have the same problem. I finally learned to drive to the lake in my tennis shoes(or sippers) and put my boots on once there. That way, my feet wouldn’t sweat and soak my socks ahead of time and get cold once I was actually out in the weather. Something to try. waytogo
