Ice fishing bass

Anyone target bass during the ice fishing season? There are a few lakes here in Utah that hold some decent size bass. I’d like to try and pull a few through the ice this year. Any tips would be helpful; holding places to look for, baits to use? I have bought a couple rip n’ raps and spoons hoping they will entice some strikes. I’ve just never targeted them so I’ve got no clue on what I’m doing.

This may go over better in the ice fishing section?

    Can we move it?

Some of the best Bass fishing I’ve had through the ice was in the early season. While I have grabbed many on spoons and jigging raps, some of the best luck I’ve had was with small suckers on a fluorocarbon quick-strike rig fished 2 feet below the ice on the edge of a sharp break/weed line break over 10 fow.
I have found they tend to prefer a much more subtle jigging presentation than active walleye typically prefer, and I usually jig in the upper 50% of the water column.
The best way to find good bass spots in the winter, is to fish those lakes on the open water. Mark down where the weed beds and wood lay inside bays with access to deeper water. If there are islands with saddles that only drop down to 10-15 feet between each other or the shore, these can be good spots for winter bass as well, especially if there’s wood or vegetation.

Absolutely. Does a moderator move it?

Thank you Ben. I have some areas marked on my GPS; I went out last week and found some areas that I’m hoping will hold the bass this winter. I need to do more though I think; I mostly just marked wooded areas, I need to find those sharp breaks and weed lines.

If you haven’t already, take a note pad and make notes of the spots you marked even if you think you can remember them all. *Waypoint #37 lots of small timber under 14 fow. Waypoint #41 Weed line stops in 9 fow and quickly breaks down to 20 fow.*
