Tom’s Pina Colada post reminded me of one of my favorite summer times drinks. A ice cream float. I go through a TON of ice cream and pop in the summer months. Rootbeer is my favorite, But I like them with Cream Soda and Orange soda as well

I do a lot of homemade milkshakes, Blizzard style, with nuts, chocolate or cookies thrown in.

I make a butterscotch milkshake…love them, and use caramel/white chocolate coffee creamer in lieu of milk when making them along with butterscotch ice cream topping. Ya, I know, lots of sugar, but…..

brewerybuilderPosts: 155June 19, 2020 at 5:01 pm #1951279I’m partial to a bourbon malt. Icecream, malt powder, little bit of chocolate syrup, and bourbon.
tim hurleyPosts: 5831June 19, 2020 at 5:23 pm #1951283As a tiny tike I was fanatical about root beer floats. Family brought me to a parade, I was having fun right away, then my mom said: ‘wait ’till you see the floats!’ I thought she meant root beer floats-
June 19, 2020 at 5:49 pm #1951289I find the Hanks brand of root beer and orange to be the absolute best. I am a lil bit of a root beer conisuer…. Sold at Hardware Hank.
June 19, 2020 at 6:39 pm #1951295I worked at a Hardware Hank in college and fell in love with Hanks Rootbeer! It makes for an excellent float.
Rootbeer has been my favorite kind of pop for a long time. So much so, Billy and I had a keg of 1919 Rootbeer at our wedding reception.

Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559July 19, 2020 at 1:53 pm #1958442Lakeside Rootbeer stand in Winona has been making their own rootbeer extract from a family recipe for like 70 years. They use something like 2,500 pound of sugar a season, between Memorial Day and Labor Day, just to create their syrup. Its by far the best rootbeer I have ever had and will go out of my way to get a glass or a jug of it. The original owner lives near the stand and visits there several times a day “just to check on things” as he says. Cool old fella. His son now owns it but I’m not sure if he’s ready to retire. The stand is never not busy.
They also off a super good burger there. Carole is a fan of the shrimp burger and if we are there for something to eat, its the shrimp burger hands down for her. I’ve never seen her eat anything but that burger there in all the years we’ve been stopping there.

I believe you mean Lakeview Drive Inn? Never heard of and can’t find anything about Lakeside.
