Ice conditions Winona ?

Anyone been out in Winona area this week just wondering if ice is somewhat safe still she’s above freezing a lot this week

Ice is still good,but a lot of areas are sloppy slush and standing water.Much more so when dealing with the Miss. backwaters.

Plenty of cars and trucks on the larger/East Winona lake when I drove past at noon today. I have not personally been on the ice in a few weeks so I can’t say how thick it is. Looked like a lot of standing water on the ice

Carry a spud and check the ice if on the Mississippi.Merrick park in Fountain city had about 12″ in the bays.

When we crossed the channel today we drilled a couple of holes. Only around 6″. The top of the ice is getting water logged with water stsnding on top. I would use caution crossing back channels now if on foot.

With the flow and river level the way it is this year, ice will go fast on the river here.
