Ice conditions?

I’ll fish anywhere on the lake but prefer the NW corner. Had friends on the mud flats last week that said lots of slush. I was just curious if it got to the point of no return after this event.

I’m guessing you go out of “Friendly Phil’s” on occasion? whistling

It’s only “to the point of no return” when you fall through and drown. sad

Sincerely though, it’s getting tougher for both “the public access community” and resorts.

Resorts can’t get out to plow and build their roads, and with more snow and slush…snowmobile, ATV, and more so walking out is a challenge.

Not even New Years yet and this ice fishing season is in the toilet already.

    Speaking of… smirk

I talked to a resort owner last week who said it’d be a “few weeks” before the plows hit that ice making roads to the flats. Based on my Minnesota math and the understanding that “couple” means 2 and “few” means 3 or 4, that’s means we’re looking at a 5 weekend walleye season for the obnoxious wheelhouse crowd, give or take a week.

Booked a house back in September for January 10th, 11th and 12th. That’s obviously not going to happen with the forecast we have. flame flame flame

I don’t know who friendly Phil is to be honest or even if that is a real person haha. I usually just use the public accesses with a set of boots, a spud bar, and lots of fishing supplies. Sounds from other sources that sleds are usable.
