Got the Cabela’s Trans Alaskan pack boots last year. Made it through the season using my yaktrax XTR ice spikes. I love the traction I get with the XTR’s. But the rubber on them have been stretched to the max. Showing signs of cracking. Hoping they make it through another season. But I am looking for alternatives. There are a couple I have been looking at. 1) Stabilicer Hike Macro ($55-$75)and 2) Yaktrax Summit ($75-$100). But boy are they expensive. Already spent $200 x2 for the 2 pairs of boots alone. Both seem to be hard to find. I really like the cleats that use steel plates with teeth bent down.

What are you using that will fit over package boots?

Craigslist Chicago IL have Stabilicers (not sure what model?) for $25. Good luck.

LL Bean Streamside Cleats with BOA $79. I’ve used these for 3 years and am totally satisfied.

The cheap ones at Fleet Farm I think they are the HT brand. They are the large black rubber ones with rows of cleats not individual ones. They are the only ones I can fit on my Baffin pack boots. I believe there are 2 sizes and you want the larger.

These are what I have been using. I have the apex ice cleat and have been very happy. Tight fit over my boot and they are extremely sticky have never even come close to slipping when walking or running to flags. Looks like they have larger sizes I have size 11 Arctic Pro’s.

i wear the bulkiest boots youve ever seen (baffin titans) and i use the ICEtrekker diamonds. My boots are size 12. For cleat size i bought XL Mens 13. They barely fit! They work fine but it takes a bit of effort to get them on.

i bought what i think is a pretty good pair of cleats last year.

my question, do you guys wear them all season????

i usually only use them when there is little to no snow on the ice.

I only wear them on glare ice but this year I will take them off after drilling holes because I’m pretty sure the noise spooks the fish.
