I know I probably asked in the past but what are your favorites $50 or less?

Spend the money and get a set of Kahtoola Mircospikes. Stand up company which stands behind their product if you were to ever need anything. The only cleat that I’ve actually felt perfectly fine walking in without any weird shifting of weight and running in on glare ice. Invest in some quality spikes because they are cheaper then a hospital bill….

    This.

Microspikes are the best, in my opinion, and can be occasionally found online for around $50. If not, SportsmenDirect IceHopper creapers are essentially the same thing and I believe they retail at $50.

I got some microspikes last year and won’t ever use anything else. I’m a pretty big guy and never felt very confident with cleats pulling my fish house and I can run with it in these. It almost seems like they don’t rely on the rubber to hold them on the boot but they actually grip on the bottom when you step.

I have been using the Microspikes as well…

Last year I actually blew one out and I contacted Kahtoola and they sent me a new pair no questions asked !!

Customer Service is Top Notch !!

Kahtoola Mircospikes are the best ones I have used. You can get them also at Thorne Brothers. I saw that Sportsmen’s direct had a pair that looked the same but I have not seen them in person. They are called Ice Hopper Creepers for $25.

I’ve had Yaktrax and while they’re OK, they don’t do so well moving laterally. The Microspikes seem to be the best from what I’ve experienced.

Ice hoppers are a great lower cost alternative. Was fishing north Central Iowa last season and the owner of the bait shop/guide service was impressed with them and we compared them to the Kathoolas and they are virtually the same.

Kahtoola Microspikes are the best ice cleats, hands down, but they’re tough on other things that aren’t snow and ice and have seen a few floormats and fishhouse floors chewed up because of how aggressive they are. If you’re going that route and want to stay in budget, I’d try that model from Sportsmans Direct for sure.

The pair I like are Yaktrax Diamond Grip – very good grip yet you’re able to wear them a lot more easily in your fish house and truck or on concrete and tar. If you shop around the next few weeks, you can probably find them for under $40. Good luck with what you decide.

I like my YakTrax, you can put them on and not have to worry about taking them off in the truck or permanent fish house etc.

Yup I agree same cleats I run. But they tend to make my sole of foot sore after a few hours

They also will punch holes into concrete! Once I step off the ice the cleats come off so I don’t destroy anything I walk on.

I have been wearing Kahtoola Microspikes for years they are worth every penny. I don’t ever recall having one fall off or slipping with them on.

I’ve been wearing the IceTrekker Diamond grip spikes for a number of years. They work well and no need to take them off when you go into the ice house.
