I just drove back from Montana yesterday and on the way back I see guys pulling ice castle fish houses, both to and from MN. I know these guys aren’t ice fishing yet, but what are they doing with them? They were not new and they weren’t going home. Guys with MN plates heading west and guys with ND plates heading east. Are they using them for a camper while prairie dog hunting or speed goat hunting? I counted 8 of them after I saw a few and started counting.

Id say camping or some of them are toy haulers with the fold down back doors.

I’ve been noticing a lot of these on the road in the summer as well and when I go past campgrounds, it’s pretty common to see a couple of wheel houses in use as summer campers.

I suspect with a lot of guys it’s easier to justify the expense if they become year-around toys rather than just seeing use a couple of months in the winter and then sitting around in storage for the other 8 months.

Just happened to be an RV dealership looking at ATV trailers earlier this summer and got a glance at a couple of the price tags on the LuxoWheelHouses. $$$$$$$$. Yikes. Nice rigs for sure, but wow that’s a major coinage outlay.

My Mom’s husband and crew left to out west for bow elk camp yesterday, imagine quite a few others do the same.

I think they make great hunting camp shelters. I prefer an outside kitchen and pop-up shower. The ability to haul an ATV via rear ramp is a big bonus. Once camp is set up I use my clam pop-up hub shelter as garage and covered storage keeping the inside of trailer uncluttered.

If you drive by the Ice Castle lot at Mille Lacs Unclaimed on 169 you can see that as many have AC units on top as do not. They are not just for winter ice fishing anymore.
