Lets see your ice camping set ups! I love my wall tent winter ice camping trip I’ve been doing for a few years and I’ve been meaning to try ice camping in my pop up for a while now and I’m finally making the necessary tweaks to my setup to make it happen. I know others on here ice camp and I’d love to see how others are rigging up their tents to sleep in them. Thanks in advance.

Don’t have a pic, but I lay a piece of plywood behind the seats in my Otter Resort (on the seat bars). Then a foam pad and good bag.

Super easy to do and still leaves the shack wide open for fishing, the plywood doubles as a table during the day.

Shut the screen – you’ll let the skeeters in!

That’s about as outdoors as it gets!

I like to keep my set up simple.

Haven’t had that yet. And probably camped 50 times in the last few years.

I have them under the girls gymnastics bars in the garage. Dog drug one outside and it froze down on the driveway. Needed a warm day to come off.

Thanks. I’m looking for discussion and the ability to ask questions on peoples setups on what they do/don’t like.

I don’t have a pic, but I solo camp in my flipover. Foam mats like BC posted (I’ve never had them freeze down), cot on one side, fishing area/heater on the other side. Nothing too luxurious about it for me

Car battery is powering a diesel heater. The heater is out side and the battery stays inside. Keeps dry heat all weekend.

Driveway is much different. These always just pop off the ice. The driveway asphalt or concrete will act as glue when cold.

I do this if I camp solo. My old otter resort flip over was great for that solo camping set up.

^^^ The most important thing with diesel heaters is making sure your return air is being pulled from inside the shack.

    Two ways to do it.

    1. Have the heater inside (exhausting outside)

    2. Have the heater outside with INSULATED duct work on both ends of the heater

A lot of new guys set the heater outside with just one duct going into the shack. The heater has to run on MAX to warm up the winter air. It’s much more efficient to re-warm the already warm air inside.

Insulated duct both ways. And even better to throw a blanket or what ever around all that.

I know we dont have to worry about you guys, but when I was chatting with the dude at Beachside Saturday who is on the Fire Dept he said they got called out Friday night (I think) because of someone not waking up in the morning due to a diesel heater. Apparently the exhaust hose was laying on the ice and melted snow/ice and then became blocked by water. Interesting thing was the old man woke up but his kid was the one that didnt. Not sure the ages of these folks if it was a little kid or adult.

Sad deal, we run a extended flex pipe out like 4 ft down wind out the propane hose sleeve.
