I was out to dinner last night and we were discussing if and when the Ice Breaker might be coming through Pepin.
Anyone have any word on this? Must be getting close….

If I recall L and D 5a is under repair and they aren’t planning on opening it until March 23(?)
I’m guessing the first barge won’t break the ice until after that.

I’d say based on that info, you’re both right and is it possible that by then with this weather, Pepin will open its self?!

March 16, 2015 at 8:31 am #1523813I would guess its open by then. Drove down the WI side and it is looking pretty dark and pulling away from shore most of the way down.
