Ice Armor Edge vs Rise

I am looking at both of these for early some my open water fishing. Fleet Farm has both on clearance.
They are really different styles of gear.I was wondering if anyone has experience/preference. For example does one breathe better to keep you from sweating on milder days.

Also is there a topic search function on this site to look for other tbreads?

Sorry, not to mix things up but Gander in Baxter has both at VERY low prices. I thought the expensive one, not sure of name, was extremely heavy. That’s what kept me from Striker Hardwaters also, you would need 2 extra inches of ice just for your clothing )

That’s part of the delema. The cheaper one seems to have a more durable outside with a fleece liner, may make you sweat. The other is more comfortable but more bulky and heavy.

The search button is fine, but it only helps in some cases not necessarily this one. I’ve been going back-and-forth over brands and insulation values ever since they started become discounted a little bit. I’ve tried on a couple brands some were so heavy they were just unbearable. I almost bought a pair of climate predators yesterday, turned out they were sold out, but that’s OK to. When the guy called me back from Thorne Brothers he told me that he had a pair of climate predators and that they were so hot that he could Not even wear pants underneath them, just plain underwear. That’s not what I’m looking for. I’m looking for something that’s going to keep me wind proof & waterproof that’s going to be comfortable to sit in
if I sit inside my portable or something that’s going to protect me when I go outside. there to be an in between, my guess is somewhere around 100 g of insulation. But when you do a search everybody just brags about what they bought and how it’s the best, there’s very few comparisons.

I have the Predator suit and love it. I see you are talking about the climate suit.I have to wear my pants in my suit.I believe the predator is 100 grams of insulation.

Unless I’m missing something here, the most glaring difference between these two suits is that the Rise is a “float” suit whereas the Edge is not. The Clam Rise is one of Clams product offerings along with the Ascent to compete with Striker and other brands for a flotation suit. That seems to be the current trend, “float” suits as Strikemaster just introduced theirs this season.
(Perhaps you’ve noticed the ads on this page pop up continually)

Personally, if buying a new suit (which I have recently) I’d get the floatation style.

Nobody ever plans on going through the ice…until they do. crazy

Not sure of the 2 at Gander but the one had a list of about $100 more and was LOTS heavier. I do not know much about Clam suit quality either.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up finding a Striker Trekker suit. Seemed to split the difference between the two Ice Armor suits. Not as bulky as the rise but it floats.

    Good choice. waytogo

As long as you’re buying a new ice outer gear item, why not get it with the “float” feature.
