Had to take a break from the 200HP invasion on pool 8 this weekend and hit some waters in the Preston/Fountain/SpringValley area. Rapalas were used exclusively(sorry no super bows here). Smallys were super agressive and are very vulnerable now with the low water. They picked up as the day went on and ranged from 8-20″. 20″ was a beautiful fish holding tight on a steep dirt bank.Trout came best very early in the a.m. and ranged 12-18.5″. With water so low and clear one cast is all you get in some holes. One tatic that was working well was to let the floating Rap drift down into wood or overhanging branches then start retrieving it otherwise you cant get a cast into those fish holding pockets. Two huge trout follows made an exciting outing and was encouraging sign that there are some big ones out there. Good fishing was attributed by walking long distances and getting into some less traveled areas that made the effort very rewarding. Its a jungle out there in places and not many people are willing to work a little harder at it now so you can have a lot of water to yourself. HYBES
