I was fishing with a group of friends this weekend up in the gull lake area. We were having a great day. We couldn’t sit still with how many flags were popping up. We could hardly set up our houses. We eventually did and I was fishing a rod and a tip up. My flag went off so I went to it leaving my rod on my bucket. Guess what happens next!?…I had my rod balanced in my bucket where the real was inside the bucket. I figured if I get a fish the reel would catch on the bucket and it would be saved….. wrong! Came back to the house and my bucket was tipped over and rod gone. Disappointed and angry at myself for being lazy. My favorite rod down the hole! About two to three hours later I was using my straight line series. The crappie were really picking up at this time. We had enough to take home so we were going to call it a night. I got one more bite, set the hook, and bam got a nice pike on. I get it up to my hole and my buddy ices it. I grab my forceps and take out the hook. I look down and see another hook in its mouth,.. wait a minute that’s my pink flash champ, my line, my ROD! I got my rod back.

With that kind of luck you had better buy lottery tickets in as many states as possible. Besides you have a some extra cash now that you don’t have to buy a replacement setup.

Cool… if we think about it. The northern pulled the rod down the hole, the rod sank to the bottom fairly close to the hole. Depending on how deep, that is how long of a “leash” it had, unless dragging the set-up along the bottom. It probably hung around and got hungry again and walla ! Either way, pretty cool !

Had that happen with a jiggen rap this weekend. Line broke, lost lure, 2 hours later, hooked lure on a jig rap in another hole. Weird things happen.
