Went out today, with a relative. We found a open launch in a backwater bay on pool 5, out of the current.

Water was 44-45 degrees and perfectly calm. Had high hopes for this perfect, warm day.

Threw for panfish, then for pike. White plastics, spinners & vibrating stuff. Visibility was 6” or so from the surface.

Nothing was biting. Then the wind kicked up and the white caps came.

I’m thinking it’s gonna be a while now before I’ll get back out but I had to try.

    Anyone else having better luck?

I was in a shallow backwater bay w/ water that’s normally two feet deep, , no where near the main channel , completely out of the current and still only 5’ deep now. I could have paddled a canoe in this spot. Little different than the fellas I was responding to in the silly fast water.

Thanks for the report Thomas. I’m at Bay Point and have a major itch to fish there. Just have a couple things to do before the slips dry out down stream. Just can’t seem to get a line in the water. (

Heard there were some complaining about the wakes from (the few) boaters on the main channel yesterday. Pretty hard to not make a wake going up stream with the flow the way it is. coffee

[/quote] They went as far as comparing boat wakes to throwing gas on an allready contained garage fire (arson?).
