I pilot remote issues

Has anyone here had problems with their I pilot remote not turning on? My buddy has had problems with his. Called Minnkota’s customer service. The guy said it is a bad control. He tries to buy one on line and everyone is out of them and back ordered to the middle of October. He places an order on one site and after he places it a day later they tell him it is back ordered til mid October. He leaves the order open and received it yesterday. Call Minnkota’s customer service to see if the old one is repairable and the gal there asks what is wrong with it. He tells her and she says without hesitation to remove the battery, flip it over, put the cover back on and try to power it up. She says there are mini capacitors inside that store energy. They get too much stored energy and act up. Now it works fine. Just a heads up for anyone else having remote issues

Everyone struggles with the remote it seems like. Some worse than others.

LOL… Mine started acting up the other day… again, so went to swap the battery and realized I didn’t have another in the boat as usual. Put it back in, and for kicks tried it… has been good since. At least until the next time – and I’ll take it. Maybe there’s something to that reply
