I pilot options

My wife just gave me an i-pilot for a early father’s day gift. I have a power drive v-2 without a built in transducer. I just got done mounting a new mega side imaging transducer and a high speed transducer for the new helix 9. The question is can i run the i – pilot off of one of the transom transducer ? Or do I need a new trolling motor?

I pilot or I link don’t require any transducer. So if all you are trying to do is see depth on your locator and you have the helix working you will be fine. Having another transducer in the motor would just give you a 2D option to select.

Ipilot is a GPS system, no transducer involved.
Your foot pedal will not be usable after you install Ipilot on your Powerdrive.

Wow I guess I don’t know anything! Thanks for the replys ! I thought to follow contours it would have to be connected to the graph or the transducer.

Yes, iPilot link is what you need to follow contours with your helix.

Thanks , I think I might get by with just the i pilot.the biggest issue I have is when I on a troll and me or one of my kids gets a fish on by the time the fish is landed I’m way off of my depth and in the weeds , just having the spot lock might solve the problem. Just hit spot lock when fish on and then resume when ready.

That works, but the motor still runs to maintain position so you could get lines in the prop. Best to pull all lines.

I don’t think the I-pilot Link add-on is available for Powerdrive motors.

Best to use autopilot to keep course while trolling. Autopilot and spot lock are my most used features. I do use follow the contour some but not as much as autopilot.

I-pilot link is available for the PowerDrive. I have one. It came with a 30ft Ethernet cable to connect to your Humminbird. You will need an additional adapter cable to convert the connection on the back of the Helix to a round Ethernet connection.

    Enjoy your new toys.

when i troll or drag, i always have my heading (auto pilot) button on. the arrowup with the N button. that way when i’m landing a fish i don’t go off course. of course if i’m following contours and landing fish it might go off course a bit but not as bad as if it was just going where it was pointed.

i thought spot lock would be my most frequently used feature on my ipilot. i was wrong. its autopilot.

I am having trouble with my minkota ulterra (probably my problem). Using the foot control rather than the I Pilot the trolling motor continues to run even when I take my foot off of the foot control. Can you help me?

This may be an obviously dumb answer, but you don’t have the round CON button on the left side of the pedal pushed, do you?

Tap the “CON” button on the foot pedal.
