Last spring I took a trip to red wing to fish eyes. I’m looking to take another trip on the river this year as well. How is the bite at Genoa usually around the second week in april? Just curious. I want to try some different spots. A buddy from work wants to go and fish red wing, but I’m not sure I want to. Any suggestions?

Run off is a huge factor by April. Some years, the gates are pulled by then and the deluge of water is roaring….along with debris. Some years, you couldn’t ask for better conditions.

I haven’t looked up moon phase for march/April yet, but typically your into post spawn and the eyes are dispersing out. Read back through old reports. I think Koonce is handling but then. I’m usually casting cranks or pitching 1/2 Oz blades. Genoa (pool 9)offers a lot of good structure if you get out and look for it

Yes most definitely there will be pre spawn fish and the bite could be great, but then again it depends on if the river is going to let you fish

The second week in April shouldn’t put you in this stage. You will still be in pre spawn.
