I have a zoom question for LX-5 owners.

Hey guys. I just picked up a used LX-5 to replace my old VX-1 and used it for the first time tonight. My question is this; is it possible to lock the zoom on or to lock the zoom to the bottom when I turn it on?

I’m asking because I hole hop a ton and the zoom feature turned off every single time I picked up the unit to move. I found it extremely aggravating to have to turn the zoom back on at every hole and then hold the stupid down button to get the zoom down to the fish again and again. Please tell me there is a way to lock the zoom on or to automatically go to the bottom instead of starting at the top 5 feet.

When you’re hole hopping do you turn the LX5 off in between holes? I thought the zoom in my LX5 stayed on unless I turned the zoom off myself or I turned the power off. Maybe not.

No, there is no locking feature that I’m aware of. I guess I never found to be much of a bother cause you just hold the button down and it moves pretty quickly. They built it that way so you can zoom in on any 5 ft section of the water column that you want. Pretty sweet feature if you ask me.

Just don’t turn your unit off between holes!

No, I didn’t touch the unit in between holes. After fishing a hole I would pick up the unit to move without touching any buttons and when I got to the new hole the zoom was off. It reset itself when I picked the unit up to move.

That is weird. Make sure all electrical connections are tight. When I hole hop, I don’t have to turn the zoom back on. It should stay on. This is on all 3 of the LX-5’s I have.

Faulty electrical connections. Mine on occasion resets when I move it. I know I should get it repair but, I’m not that concern at the moment.

I have had mine do that a couple of times but it has always been a loose connection on the battery. Check that your spade connections are tight on your battery posts and that the power plug is tight in the back of the unit.
