With just starting to get the Daughter into Hunting and not knowing if it is something she will like and continue with I am looking for someplace to purchase some Youth sized or small sizes womens camo clothing – Spring Turkey. Where is a good place to purchase some reasonable price Camo. Cabela’s has some but rather high priced. Gander is rather limited to say the least. I hate to go online because it would be better if she could try it on. Sizing on the clothes we’ve looked at is all over the place.

I would have thought Gander but you already checked. Maybe a Fleet store like Mills?

As uncomfortable as it was, I started hunting in ill-fitting hand-me-downs. At the time, I wasn’t sure at the time how much I’d LOVE it and didn’t want to spend a lot of money off the bat. Some of the items were no longer needed by their original owners and I was able to have some pants hemmed (I’m not short – I’m fun sized ) but some stuff just fit big for a while. I also began my collection of hunting gear with clearance stuff. I’m a women’s L or XL and it seems all the good clearance stuff is either M or S, but that might just be my luck. Have you checked thrift stores like Goodwill or Unique Thrift Store in Burnsville? My mom has found a couple fly fishing shirts for my dad at Goodwill and I recall seeing some camo stuff at Unique last time I was there. That’s awesome that she might be getting into hunting! Best of luck and hopefully lots of fun memories will be in the making soon!

Don’t know if you have a blind or plan on using a blind but I would highly recommend it for kids. If so you don’t need to spend a bunch of money on camo she’ll outgrow in a year or two anyway. My two girls hunted 3 or 4 years in a blind without much camo, just wearing something dark and quiet that they already had.

I have been kind of giving the blind a thought. Good way to get her out of the elements and cover some of her movements. how long in advance of the hunt do you need to set a blind up to get the turkeys adjusted to it? Or does it not matter to them?

I don’t think it matters a whole lot. I know guys who hunt public land and pop them up that morning. We hunt private land so we usually set ours up the weekend before to make it easier and that way you can take your time and let your daughter really help out with the setup, mine always look forwards to set up weekend almost as much as the hunt weekend. We would take our chairs and decoys out too and leave in blind so on the morning of the hunt we would have minimal luggage. Hope your daughter takes to it like mine did.

    X2!
Both my girls started with basic came from the army surplus stores. Bought the rip stop pants big so they could layer swet pants under them. Saved a ton of money that way
