Rumor mill has it that Nikon is cutting their scope advertising by more than 50%. They have long neglected their advertising in other optic fields like cameras and had the hunting market flooded with $$$ for scopes. I wonder what impact this is going to have with their sponsorships with the likes of Shockey and others

    Randy,

That is interesting. I just bought a Nikon Monarch 3 2.5x10x42 with BDC recticle. I liked the advertising they have done on the BDC and their Spot On technology with their website and APP for spot on. I cannot wait to try out the new scope and put the BDC with Spot on to the test and see how accurate it is.

I don’t want to be mis-understood about their R&D. This was just a topic of discussion amongst a number of people I know. The scopes are a small percentage of Nikon’s portfolio and they siomply determined they needed to invest more in advertising for their other products. Obviously, advertising dollars is what ultimately puts hunting shows on TV. Wonder what large scale sponsors are going to fill that void.
I see Les (Predator Quest) signed a deal with Burris for his signature series scopes.
