Sportsmen beware New York style ammo restrictions

Something for all midwestern sportsman, hunters, and target shooters to be aware of.

Today many New York hunters and shooters recived emails from mail order ammo suppliers that state that as of 1/14, they can no longer ship to New York. A new law in New York requires that ALL ammo sales happen over the retail counter. No mail order whatsoever in New York.

Now obviously New York is a lost cause in terms of being a crime-ridden bastion of liberal anti-gun agendas, but thier fruther sinking into a cesspool of ineffective legislation is a cautionary tale for all of us.

Obviously, this ammo restriction would be devastating to hunters and shooters. Especially given the massive run on ammo we’ve seen in receont months where the local shelves can be bare for months on end.

We have to be vigilent for any hint that this kind of New Yack style “nanny state” law is under consideration in our states. As usual, gun grabbers will present this as a perfectly reasonable law designed to prevent a person from buying a large stockpile of ammo in an under-the-radar fashion.

Obviously, the reality is that this law does nothing as a mentally deranged individual can simply buy their horde of ammo from any or a varity of reatilers locally.

But still, we have to watch out for this new effort to restruct gun use by restricting where legal gun owners can buy ammo. I would think this restriction would be especially tempting for states where there is a large urban center with an out of control crime problem like Illinois has with Chicago. It would be easy to sell the uneducated public on the idea that the simply soulution to Chicago’s crime problem is to limit the ammo supply and of course this would do nothing to help.

Be vigilent, least we end up like New York.

And just when I thought the shelves were starting to show promise. This will spin up another whirlwind if the policy gains any momentum in other states.

AND it wouldn’t surprise me to see this agenda attempted here.

Why I joined the New York Rifle and Pistol Association. Good news is firearms business are already migrating out of that state. Ca, Ma, Il and NY are pathetic when it comes to firearms. I’m doing what I can to support containing that infringement.

Suzuki, you are right on. “Containing” is the key word. Along with “punishment”. These anti-gun states need to feel the pain by having ALL gun owning taxpayers and all tax paying, gun-reltated industries MOVE OUT.

California, New York, and Illinois are obviously lost causes. These states have out-of-control crime problems, huge government bureaucracies, giant state debt crisis, and a general population that looks to the government to spoon-feed them the solution to every problem. Ammo restrictions were and are being sold to a dazed/confused population in these states as a “quick-fix” to crime and to a drowning man, anything that offers a chance of salvation, looks like a good chance to take.

We need to watch carefully and make sure these efforts are contained and soon we will be able to use failed states like California, New York, and other states as fine examples of the misterable failure of these restrictions.

But don’t be fooled. There are PLENTY of groups and people looking for the next opportunity to introduce an ammo ban in MN, WI, Iowa, and other midwestern states.

As another word of warning: New York’s law is still unclear on how the “no mail order” ammo ban covers ammo components for reloading. Typical of New York, the law is badly written and there are gaps wide enough to drive a New Yack cab through. Under the current wording, the ban could very well extend to anything related to ammo including components, cases, powder, etc. Or not.
