Well, if it’s too good to be true, IT’S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! I looked the Cabelas ad several times, looking for the gotcha. Well, I should have read the fine print on the back page.
Showed up with 3 girls in tow at 8:30AM. Got lucky, found a parking spot within 400 yards of the door. The crowd wasn’t nearly as bad as I’ve seen it on holiday weekends in the past. Things were going way to well until I entered the gun department. Finally tracked down a guy who told me as he was walking away to talk to Optics about safes. Get to Optics, no one there. Within a few minutes a guy shows up and I ask how I get this safe and point to the ad. He scoffed. “We sold out of that hours ago.” OK, can I pay for one and wait for it to come in. Scoffing again, “NO, we don’t offer that service.”
I grab my girls and head for the door. I had shared a text with Ricco and he told me Dunham’s in St. Cloud had safes on hand. We were barely buckled in the truck when I was transferred to the right department. I asked about the Stack On Elite 24. He said we are out, but if you want to pay now adn get the discount, we will get it here before Xmas. Guaranteed. I said I’ll see you in 30 minutes.
We arrived at the store and headed for the gun department. They had several safes on sale. After looking at a couple Stack On and Canons, I ended up with the Canon Safari 36 gun. It was $50.00 more than the budget but offered me a lot more space. The fit and finish on the interior may not be as polished as the Stack On in the same price range, but I was after space and truth be told. The finish is more than sufficient for my beater guns. So long trigger locks!!
